Heat-dwelling bacteria and algae grow abundantly in Orange Spring Mound's water, creating tapestries of living color. The mound formed from mineral deposits of calcium carbonate in the thermal water that flows from deep within the earth and out through vents on the top of the mound. Located in Upper Terrace in Yellowstone National Park.
